Sustaining Learning Excellence As We Grow

Blended Learning - BL

Blended Learning (BL) is an instructional approach that includes a combination of online and in-person learning activities. It combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods. The underlying principle behind Blended Learning implementation at UNITEN is focuses on the learning that takes place, rather than the technology that supports it. Blended learning is defined as the integration of classroom face-to- face learning experiences with virtual (online) learning experiences. It is a contemporary teaching-learning approach in which, a student experiences learning through the combination of face-to-face discussion, with online delivery of instruction, content and assessment. There is thus, some element of student control over time, place, path and/or pace of their own learning.

Learning Management System (MOODLE)

MOODLE is an online educational platform that provides custom learning environments for students. It is used by thousands of educational institutions around the world to provide an organized and central interface for e-learning. Lecturers and administrators can create and manage the site, in which students can access videos, documents, and tests. Course chat allows students to communicate with the lecturers and other students in a secure environment.

Active Learning (AL) is an approach where students are actively engaged in the teaching and learning process.  Various techniques can be used to approach AL including problem-based learning (PBL).  AL and PBL are actively being promoted in UNITEN through series of structured courses to the instructors.  Through a research project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ CBHE programme, an active learning lab has also been created at UNITEN.
