> Department of Civil Engineering

This department offers a full-time undergraduate programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) which is designed to prepare students to become Civil Engineers who are able to plan, design, construct and maintain civil engineering facilities such as buildings, bridges, foundation, highways, water supply systems, sewerage schemes and other form of infrastructure. The program is also designed to provide students with the educational base to progress to Professional Engineer status as well as to undertake Master of Civil Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy from UNITEN and other reputable institutions of higher learning.

The department strives to be the leading civil engineering department in the country and to provide leadership in the field of civil engineering by focusing on technological innovations built upon the advances in basic knowledge. We work in partnership with corporations, government departments and other organisations to ensure that our work has the breadth and expertise necessary to tackle problems with economic, scientific and engineering dimensions.

> Department of Electrical Power Engineering

The Department of Electrical Power Engineering is established to develop the advantage of its strong link with the Electricity Supply Industry through the parent company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The department consists of young energetic academicians as well as experienced practising engineers in various fields of Electrical Power Engineering. The department offers programmes leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering, B.Eng. (Electrical Power).

Facilities

The Department of Electrical Power Engineering offers programmes leading to the award of Bachelor of Electrical Power Engineering. The department has access to a total of 16 undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories. The laboratories are:

  3. Data Communication and Networking Lab
  4. Digital Logic Design Lab
  5. Electrical / Electronic Measurement Lab
  6. Electronics Design Lab
  7. EMF Laboratory

  9. Microprocessor Applications Laboratory
  10. Optoelectronics Laboratory
  11. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Laboratory

In addition to these laboratories, there are also Power Systems Laboratories, High Voltage Testing and Diagnostic, Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, Power Plant Technology and Electric Drives Laboratories, which are owned by TNB Research and can be accessed by Universiti Tenaga Nasional students for the purpose of research.

The department is now developing the following labs for undergraduate and postgraduate use, in particular to complement the technical elective subjects taught in the final year before students graduate.

Depending on the usage of laboratories, software installed in these computers are MATLAB, LTSPICE, ALTERA VHDL, ALTERA FPGA development tools, Programmable Logic Controller, word processing and many other application specific software.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides an excellent learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities and highly qualified academic staff with extensive level of expertise over a broad range of subject areas.

Its research and teaching activities include applied mechanics and materials, thermal engineering, and manufacturing systems. The comprehensive and innovative content and teaching techniques adopted are designed towards expanding the frontiers of learning and inculcating a probing mind.
