A Real Use Case of Data Science Project From Analysis to Implementation

Dr. Amril Nazir will be presenting a real use case of data science project where he will be showing you on how they carried out sentiment analysis project starting from project requirements to full cycle of development work including data extraction, data pre-processing, and sentiment classification. This talk will be useful for students to acquire knowledge the actual work involved in a data science project and learn what skills matters when preparing for Data Scientist careers.
Dr. Amril Nazir is currently, the Director of Data Science & Analytics for emerging startup company specializing in Data Science and Big Data Analytics with focus on Telecom Industry. Also, a Professor and a Scientific Enterprise & Business Commercialization Committee at the Taif University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Formerly, a Senior Research Scientist for the Malaysian Leading R&D Institute.
He has a total of 10+ years’ experience in Data Analytics and Cloud Computing domains in Telecom, Finance, and Government sectors as the following roles:
- Director, Data Science & Analytics (2014-Present): Raw Data Collection and ETL Processing for MEDIATION (2015 – 2016), CDR Re-rating and IN/Billing System (2016-2017), Revenue Assurance for IN/Billing and Rating (IN) platforms (2014-Present), Text Analytics (2017-Present), HR Analytics (2018-Present), Visual Analytics (2018-Present). Successfully Delivered 3 (three) Telecom projects across 3 different countries (Guinea, Ghana, and Sierra Leon), and another 7 (seven) on-going projects across 7 countries (Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Niger).
- Research Scientists (2011-2014): Crime Pattern Detection for Royal Malaysia Police (2013-2014), Data Cleansing for Social Security Organization (2012-2013), and Accelerated Search for Malaysian Social Security (2011-2012).
- Technical Project Managers (2009-2014): Anti-Money Laundering Financial Fraud Detection (2011 -2014), Financial Risk Management (2010 – 2011), Malaysian’s National Grid Computing (2009 – 2010).
