Mode of Study : Full Time (Yes) | Part Time (No)

  • A 4-year study programme. 8 semesters, 148 credit hours.
  • Well-balanced between theories and experiments.
  • Use of computer applications and software.
  • Capstone design project, which would involve an integration of all aspects of Civil Engineering.

This syllabus has been designed to meet the requirements of professional bodies and industries while giving students the competitive edge. Emphasis is on the application of knowledge through teamwork, case studies, simulations and real life projects.

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) is a 4-year programme where you will study courses in civil engineering in the following areas: structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation and highway engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, project management and construction.

You will undertake an integrated design project in your final year. It is a team design project applying engineering and project management principles for a multidisciplinary design, which would involve an integration of all aspects of Civil Engineering namely environmental, geotechnical, water supply, sewerage, structural, transportation and project management, covering the entire design process from conceptual and preliminary design to final design for construction purposes. It requires each student to demonstrate the ability to complete a significant engineering design using the knowledge gained as an undergraduate in the Civil Engineering programme.

You will undergo industrial training at the end of the third year where you will be exposed to the various aspects of industrial practices and ethics and to acquire knowledge and skills of practical nature, which are needed for professional development. You are also required to undertake research activities in your final year. The Final Year Project courses provide opportunities to acquire knowledge through research activities and to apply this knowledge to real life problems.

148 credit hours of subjects are being taught in 8 semesters. This Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) programme can be completed in 4 years.
