Putrajaya Campus

 

The UNITEN Putrajaya campus, in effect, began to take shape in 1995 involving three stages of development and construction covering an area of 483 acres. Its close proximity to the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and the federal administrative centre Putrajaya simply added to UNITEN’s air of auspiciousness.

According to Dr. Tajul Arus bin Noh, the first Rector of UNITEN, “The university’s primary mission is to provide quality education and training in engineering, information technology, business and related fields for Malaysians and other nationals.” By 1999, student enrolment in this state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment had reached an impressive 5,000.

About a year later, on 29 June 2000, the Malaysia Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad officially opened the UNITEN Putrajaya campus.

This further spurred the university to reach greater heights which saw it move from strength to strength consolidating its stature as a university of choice. That same year also saw the first intake of students in UNITEN’s very own bachelor’s degree programme.

Getting Here


By Air

The Putrajaya campus is located about 42km from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 1 & 2. If you are driving from the airport, you may drive via Route 29, via ELITE / AH2 / E6 and Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan / E2, or via B48. If you take a taxi, fares will vary so please confirm on cost before engaging the service.

By Car

We are 40 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur. The campus is accessible via any of the main highways such as the Lebuhraya Kuala-Lumpur-Seremban / E37, MRR2 or North-South Expressway

From Kuala Lumpur, the toll charges are:

  • North-South Expressway: Pay RM1.80 at Kajang exit.
  • MRR2 and Sungai Besi Highway: Pay RM2.00 at Mines Selatan Toll


By Bus

UNITEN shuttle bus service

A bus service is available for students and staff to and from the KTM station in Serdang to the campus. The charge is RM1.50/trip. Also from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) with RM3.00/trip. Pick-up and drop-off are only at designated places, and no special requests will be entertained. See the shuttle bus schedule for more information.

 

Public bus services

The nearest bus terminal is located at Kajang (Terminal Kajang) where public buses to/from Kajang and Kuala Lumpur are available. Bus service provided by RapidKL is also available from Kajang (Terminal Kajang) to Kuala Lumpur (Pasar Seni) at a cost of RM3.00.

By Rail

The nearest stations are in KTM Serdang and KTM Kajang town, where Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), the national rail operates every 15 minutes between 6am and 11pm to and from Kuala Lumpur at a cost of RM4.30 each way.

By Taxi & GRAB

Taxis & GRAB are readily available off-campus. The fare from Kajang to the campus normally costs not more than RM30 per trip and the taxi fare from Bandar Baru Bangi to the campus is approximately RM10. Please be aware that taxis in Kajang do not operate by meter and you will need to negotiate the cost of the trip before embarking on the journey. Use GRAB apps for its service.
