Putrajaya- Pertandingan Rekacipta dan Inovasi Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (PERINTIS) 2016 was organized by Innovative Research & Management Centre (iRMC) in collaboration with Yayasan Canselor UNITEN, Institute of Sustainable Energy (ISE), Institute of Power Engineering (IPE), Institute of Energy policy & Research (IEPRE), Institute of Informatics and Computing in Energy (IISE) and Institute of Energy Infrastructure (IEI), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). PERINTIS is a biennial competition supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

The primary objective of PERINTIS is to bring together all private higher education institutions in Malaysia to reach a common goal which is 'Better Brighter for Sustainable Future' as reflected by this year's theme. PERINTIS 2016 received massive support from institutions, schools, as well as industries with a total of 169 exhibitors taking part in the competition this year. 141 participants are from institutions and industries while 28 are from schools nationwide. PERINTIS 2016 will also be an effective platform to initiate and discuss on future collaborations with stakeholders of the industry as well as encourage collaborations between educational institutions with the industries by inculcating creative, innovative and entrepreneurial culture.

The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of Chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Tan Sri Leo Moggie and attended by Prof. Ir. Dr. Kamal Nasharuddin bin Mustapha, Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, among other VIPs. The award giving ceremony held at RHR Hotel was attended by Y.B. Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, minister of MOSTI.
