Objective of YCU
YCU’s roles are to secure, manage and distribute funds for education, research, student activities, and grant donations to local organizations approved by the Director-General of Inland Revenue. These objectives are stipulated in the Trust Deed.
Governing Rules & Regulations
YCU was incorporated by Section 2 Trustees (Incorporation) Act 1952 as Pemegang Amanah Yayasan Canselor Universiti Tenaga Nasional Berdaftar. YCU rules and regulations as stated in the Trust Deed related to its objectives, appointment of Board of Trustees, powers and duties, and audited accounts. YCU is governed by regulatory bodies such as the Legal Affairs Division, Prime Minister Department (BHEUU) and Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN).

LHDN has approved YCU for tax exemption under subparagraph 13(1)(A) of the Income Tax Act 1967. In this purview, all cash donations to YCU donors are eligible for tax exemption under sub-section 44(6) Income Tax Act 1967.
Fund Allocation and Disbursement
A structured fund allocation is being allocated and disbursed accordingly to support the implementation of YCU objectives as per YCU Trust Deed. The allocation has benefited more than 3,000 recipients of Dermasiswa, more than 60 student activities, hundreds of research projects and charitable activities. Funds are then disbursed according to allocation to achieve the below main objectives:
