Building Information Modelling integration in Value Engineering for optimization of Industrial Building System Projects

Industrial Building System (IBS) has been introduced in the construction industry of Malaysia since the sixties. Using IBS with repetitive components of the structural and nonstructural member of a construction product, the material, labors, cost, and time could be reduced. With the emerging of technology in construction management processes and the need to deliver better and optimize product of constructions Value Engineering (VE) and recently, the collaborative processes using Building Information Modelling (BIM) have emerged. This project explores the potential to implement and integrate the optimization tools in the process of construction, predominantly using IBS. The new project of transmission substations was referred and remodeled in exploring possibilities integration of those tools.
