Flexural creep and long-term mechanical behaviour testing of existing composite cross arm for life span prediction

Most of electrical tower’s composite cross arms fail after 6 months of installation. The objective of this research is to predict the life span of the composite cross arm after installation. Once the life span of the cross arm already known, the number of cross arms to be stock in the store in order to cater for the replacement of cross arm in the future can be known as well. In order to predict the life span of composite cross arms, experimental on flexural creep and an analytical study such as using Findley Method will be performed.
