This programme provides students with a strong foundation in economic theory with a specialised focus on the energy sector. It integrates economics, energy markets, policy analysis, and sustainability to develop analytical and decision-making skills, preparing graduates for professional careers in energy economics, policy planning, regulatory bodies, and energy-related industries.

About Programme 

UNITEN is a pioneer in future-focused education that addresses the evolving demands of the global workforce, offering distinctive programmes such as the Bachelor in Economics (Energy) (Honours), which is among the first programmes in Malaysia and globally to integrate economics with specialised knowledge in the energy sector.

This programme is designed to equip students with strong knowledge and practical understanding of economics and the energy sector in response to evolving industry and workforce demands. Students are exposed to key economic principles, energy-related issues, and their applications within business and corporate environments. The curriculum integrates both theoretical and practical components to develop graduates who are capable of analysing economic and energy-related challenges across various industries. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will possess the competencies required to pursue careers in the energy and business sectors or further their studies in related fields.

This programme spans 9 semesters and can be completed within 3 years.

Programme Structure

Entry Requirements

A -Level / GCE / GCSE / IGCSE

Pass A-Level with minimum grade C in any 2 subjects

  • Any 2 subjects (Grade C)

Foundation / Matriculation​

Pass Matriculation/Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

Diploma

Pass Diploma (Level 4, MQF)ORPass Advance Diploma (Level 5, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

UEC

Pass UEC with a minimum of Grade B6 in 5 subjects including:-

  • Mathematics (Grade C9)

  • English (Grade C9)

STPM

Pass STPM with at least 2subjects at a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in any subject

AND

  • Mathematics SPM(Grade E)

  • English SPM (Grade E)

STAM​

Pass STAM with a minimum Grade of JAYYID

AND

  • Mathematics SPM(Grade E)

  • English SPM (Grade E)

DVM/ DLKM/DKM​​

Pass subjected to HEP Senate/Academic Board’s approval

International  Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB)​

Pass IB with a minimum of 24points in 6 subjects

High School Certificate for International Applicants

  • Pass with a minimum of Grade C

OR

  • 60% ATAR Rank in any of the following subjects :-

  • Mathematics

  • Economy

  • Accounting
