This pre-arrival checklist has been carefully prepared to help you make the necessary arrangements with confidence and ensure a smooth transition before your departure.
The checklist covers important preparations such as booking your flight, securing accommodation, managing visa requirements and completing the necessary payments. Our goal is to make your arrival process as seamless and stress-free as possible while ensuring you feel welcomed and well-prepared for your new experience in Malaysia.

Prepare All Your Documents

You can download the letter here: https://apply.uniten.edu.my/myuniten/Home/SignIn - Get your eVAL (electronic visa approval letter) ready. You can download the letter from the EMGS Connect Mobile App
- Apply for Single Entry Visa (SEV) or e-Visa
- The Malaysian Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia - JIM) has enhanced the eVISA system to ensure that all visa applications, including Visa With Reference and Visa Without Reference, are to be submitted fully online for entry into Malaysia.
- In line with this implementation, EMGS has enhanced the system to include the place of Single-Entry Visa (SEV) issuance for the 72 countries that were previously eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA)
- International students originating from visa-required countries to ensure that visa applications are fully submitted via the eVISA platform at the following link: https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my
- All eVISA-related inquiries must be referred to the official Immigration FAQ at https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/faq
- Travelling to Malaysia without the required SEV or e-Visa may cause complications during your student visa endorsement process
- UNITEN strongly advises you to check with the Malaysian Embassy or High Commission in your home country (or the nearest one) for the most accurate visa requirements.
- Bring along your passport, academic certificate, academic transcript and your English certificate
- Prepare some cash to be used during your journey
Booking Your Flight Ticket
- We recommend purchasing the flight ticket once you have received your Single Entry Visa (SEV) or eVISA, in case there are any delays in the visa approval process.
- Please note that Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2) are the only official entry points for international students.
- New students may enter Malaysia no earlier than two (2) weeks before the orientation date.

Download EMGS Mobile Apps
- Once downloaded, please complete the Pre-Entry Checklist in the app to notify EMGS of your arrival details.
- Upon arrival, the EMGS International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC) team will be available to assist you at the airport.

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)
The MDAC is required for the following students:
- New students who have obtained a Visa Approval Letter (VAL) and are entering Malaysia for the first time
- Mobility students with a study duration of less than three (3) months, entering on a Social Visit Pass
Important notes:
- The MDAC can be completed as early as 3 days before your arrival.
