TNB MHL 2026: MU-UNITEN Secures Third Place in Vivian May Soars Cup

The Malaysian University-UNITEN (MU-UNITEN) hockey squad secured third place in the 2026 Vivian May Soars Cup after defeating Terengganu 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out.
In the intense match held at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil, both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time before the game proceeded to a penalty shoot-out.
The victory completed MU-UNITEN’s impressive campaign in the 2026 TNB Malaysian Women’s Hockey League (MWHL), having also finished as the League Runner-Up. The team’s outstanding performance was further highlighted when goalkeeper, Nur Hazlinda Zainal Abidin, was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
MU-UNITEN’s squad showcased a unique and dynamic combination of student-athletes from various local higher education institutions. The participating universities included Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Meanwhile, UNITEN continues to strengthen its vital role in the development of national hockey by serving as the Hockey Sports Excellence Centre under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
The initiative focuses on nurturing new talents, particularly in women’s hockey, by identifying promising athletes and guiding them towards higher levels of competition, from the local stage to the international arena.
