At Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), academic excellence goes hand in hand with the cultivation of spiritual values. Demonstrating this holistic approach to education, Professional Huffaz Lecturer, Ustaz Amaluddin Arshad, was invited to appear on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara to discuss the timely topic, “Hijrah Digital: Teknologi & Ummah.”
During the discussion, Ustaz Amal explored how Muslims can embrace the rapid advancement of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), while remaining guided by Islamic principles. He highlighted the importance of using digital platforms responsibly to spread authentic Islamic knowledge, ensuring that technological advancements serve as a means of education and positive influence rather than misinformation.
The session also addressed the growing culture of sharing advice and criticism online. Ustaz Amal emphasised that while offering reminders (teguran) is encouraged in Islam, the method of delivery is equally important. Since online content can reach audiences beyond its intended target, every message should be conveyed with wisdom, compassion, and responsibility.
One of the key messages shared by Ustaz Amal was:
“Da'wah Islam itu perlu disampaikan juga dalam keadaan yang baik. Dan satu perkara yang kita boleh lihat, realiti pada hari ini, berapa banyak nasihat yang baik tetapi tidak terpakai ataupun tidak dianggap baik oleh kerana metodnya juga dalam keadaan yang tidak baik.”
The discussion served as a valuable reminder that, in an increasingly digital world, technology should be utilised not only with intelligence but also with integrity, ethics, and compassion in accordance with Islamic teachings.
