RAC 2026: Inspiring the Next Generation Through Robotics and Innovation

KAJANG — Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) recently welcomed Malaysia’s brightest young tech minds to its campus as the official host for the grand finals of the RERO Annual Championship (RAC) 2026. Held from 11 to 12 August 2026 at the National Energy Centre (NEC), the prestigious national-level culmination (Peringkat Kebangsaan) served as a vibrant platform where top-qualified student teams from across the country brought their robotics imaginations to life in an intense face-to-face battle.
Organised in strategic partnership with Cytron Technologies Malaysia and the Penang State Education Department, alongside UNITEN and its Mobile Robotics Club (MRC), over 100 schools all around Malaysia, made its way to this final round. Under the high-stakes environment of the final floor, competing teams were tested on their precision coding skills using the Microsoft MakeCode Editor. Finalists had to navigate a series of complex, mystery progressive programming tasks, ranging from basic mechanical movements to advanced logic equations, proving their mettle by coding their rero:micro robots to pass live checkpoints in real-time.
To ensure the highest standards of evaluation, the championship was refereed by a diverse panel of technical experts from the UNITEN faculty, the MRC, and seasoned Cytron Technologies engineers. Leveraging their deep industry experience and technical knowledge, the judges graded the participants strictly on technical execution, runtime software efficiency, and hardware reliability rather than mere visual aesthetics.
