UNITEN Thunder Ready to Storm SUKIPT 2026

The UNITEN Thunder contingent is geared up and ready to make waves at the prestigious 7th Malaysian Higher Education Institutions Sports (SUKIPT) 2026. Comprising a formidable team of 179 elite athletes and officials, the delegation will carry the pride and aspirations of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) throughout the 10-day tournament running from 28 August 2026 to 6 September 2026.
Jointly organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and host institution Universiti Malaya (UM), this premier biennial event serves as the ultimate battleground, bringing together the finest sporting talents from public and private institutions across the nation.
To ignite the competitive fire within the squad, a grand Flag Handover Ceremony was hosted on 24 August 2026. During the event, UNITEN Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari delivered an inspiring speech, motivating UNITEN’s star players to unleash their full potential and elevate the university’s name on the national stage. The atmosphere reached a crescendo with the symbolic handover of the contingent flag to UNITEN’s official flag bearer for SUKIPT 2026, Nursolieha Alieya Hizal, a standout netball athlete whose excellence embodies the university's winning spirit.
This year, UNITEN Thunder will unleash their athletic versatility across 15 different sporting disciplines. UNITEN has successfully qualified to hunt for medals in archery, athletics, chess, e-sports, golf, field hockey, kayaking, netball, pickleball, rugby 7s, taekwondo, tennis, tenpin bowling, volleyball, and badminton.
As the tournament unfolds, the entire UNITEN community stands united in wishing the best of luck to our beloved sporting heroes and dedicated officials. Victory or defeat is part of the game, but the grit, passion, and unity displayed by the UNITEN Thunder will endure, proving that they are, and always will be, UNITEN’s Gem❤️💙
