Nuklear: Solusi Bekalan Tenaga Murah?
Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Rahmat
27 April 2026 - Marks another significant point whereby one of our researchers, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Rahmat, a Senior Lecturer at the College of Engineering, delivered an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on a topic that often raises public concern: Nuklear: Solusi Bekalan Tenaga Murah? at Bernama TV in the programme Apa Khabar Malaysia.
In this section, Dr. Muhammad elaborated on the fundamental purpose of nuclear energy, as well as Malaysia’s evolving role in exploring its potential. He emphasised that while the nation is gradually moving towards utilising nuclear resources, stringent measures are in place to ensure operational safety and responsible waste management, while also drawing on lessons learned from the past experiences of other countries.
In simple terms, Dr. Muhammad has said, “Satu tin kecil air coke, volume satu tin kecil itu, digantikan dengan bahan nuklear, mampu untuk menghasilkan tenaga sama dengan 3 tan arang batu. So, energy density is a very big thing. Jadi bahan bakar sebanyak itu, mampu bertahan selama 7 tahun, dan jikalau operasi kita bagus, boleh digunakan selama 20 tahun lagi. Jadi, one thing I would like to recommend to other people is to look beyond the stereotype, and really read the fine prints between these stereotypes. Stereotypes come from worries, and worries must come from facts, facts that are unverified”.
